Hello and welcome!

I'm so glad you're here and I'd love to tell you how Top Topics, our small, family business first began…

 

As a home educating Mum I was always on the look out for resources to inspire and engage our two curious girls, but struggled to find what I was really looking for. I wanted something that would... enable them to follow their interests... inspire them to seek and examine information... be fun and creative with lots of ideas for crafts, activities and experiments.

So, as a graphic designer and enthusiastic researcher I decided the only thing to do was make something myself. When the girls told me they wanted to learn about something, I'd do a ton of research, make a list of questions, areas of interest and activities and we'd work our way through it over the course of a few weeks – me guiding them with books, documentaries and conversations and them picking and choosing activities that most appealed to them. It worked brilliantly!

I found we were easily able to incorporate multiple subjects and they were much more motivated even in subject areas they had previously been less keen on – work that was part of a topic they were interested in felt meaningful to them. I loved being able to support their interests whilst easily keeping track of what they were learning.

As the girls grow and change we are really benefitting from the flexibility the guides offer us – they each work at their own level and are gradually becoming more independent learners. These guides have been a game changer for us so we are really excited to share them with you and hope you enjoy them as much as we do :)
